NAdia's visit

hey been a while but whats up.
The other weekend Nadia came to visit me. We ha a blast, it was so much fun seeing her and showing her around town. The first day she was here i made her walk all over rome :). It was a long day but we saw the trevi, spanish step, pantheon, colosseum, sant angelo's castel, and alot of random parts of rome. Then we made dinner at my place and went out that night. It was so much fun and realy long. The next day we went to the Vatican and took a tour. It was a lot of fun because i had not been there yet either and the guide was annoying but it was fun. Also how many people can say they were asked out at the vatican lol. but that was pretty much our weekend nothing too big just alot of hanging out.

french riviera

WOW guys did not realize how long it has been since I have updated my blog. Well then I have a lot to tell you about. So last I updated I just got back from Florence and Chianti. Since then I went to the French Riviera and Nadia came and visited me.
I went to the French Riviera about two weeks ago for a long weekend. While I was there I went to Eze, Antibes, Cannes, Monaco, and Nice. They were all so beautiful and I want to go back there so bad. Eze is a hill side village that has one of the most amazing views that overlooks the water and you can watch all the HUGE yachts coming in to port. After we left Eze we went to Monaco and walked around for a while and had a delicious French lunch with some of my friends. I got to see the Princes Palace, which was not nearly as beautiful as some of the other building around Monaco. After we saw the Palace we walk over to the famous Monte Carlo Casino. ON our walk we saw so many amazing expensive cars. Everywhere we looked it was a Rolls Royce, Ferrari, or Lamborghini. It got to the point where these cars lost their shock appeal. Then once we got to the casino it was a never ending line of fancy cars and stores that were way out of my league. When we got in to the casino I had to check my camera because you cannot take pictures inside, so I’ll try to describe the beauty. The ceiling is covered in gold and there are hand painted pictures of flowers, kids, scenery and looks a lot like you are in a palace. The floors are marble and there are a bund of closed doors that lead to private gaming areas. ( like in the James Bond movie Casino Royal) Then at the far end of the rectangular shaped room there is a door with guards outside. This is where you go if you want to play table games (black jack, craps, poker ect.). I did not go in to this area because you had to pay 10 Euros just to get in to the room. After walking around for about an hour more we got back on the bus and headed back to our hostel. That night we ate dinner there and then went out to a pub and walked around Nice at night. The next day we went to Antibes and walked around and got to see where some of the biggest and most expensive yachts in the world dock. I was the worlds most expensive sail boat which is called the Maltese Falcon. With this sail boat all you have to do is hit a button and the sails and boat run its self. After walking around and gawking and all the really pretty toys we got back on the bus and headed to Cannes. Cannes is where one of the oldest and most prestigious film festivals is held every year. One we got there we walked over and saw the building of the film festival which did not seem very impressive from the outside. After we saw that we walked around Cannes and saw more amazing cars, just like Monaco had. While we were there I got to be a creeper and watch a wedding, which was fun. Then after Cannes we headed back to our hostel and had dinner. That night me and three of my friends went out to the most amazing night club I have ever seen and danced till the early morning. The next morning was our last day so we got up early and went out and explored Nice. We spent some time on the beach for maybe an hour and then walked around the city. The beach in Nice was all stones but because of the waves the stones were all smooth. The water there was so blue that it looked fake. After Nice we got back on the bus for a ten hour bus ride back to Roma.

Chianti and floence

Hey guys
Sorry I have been really busy lately and I have kinda been slacking on my posts. Well after the fire my roommates and I have been super carful about plugging things in and using the correct converter. So no more fires lol.
My classes are really fun I think I’m going to really enjoy all of them. the professors really seem to know what they are talking about and are excited about what they are teaching. So on Mondays I don’t start class till 5:15 pm. So I have all day Monday to do my home work and catch up on some much needed sleep. My Monday class is Global Consulting Management and it is really interesting my professor made us all go around the room and ask one interesting and probing question. Then from there he had us read some case studies about different businesses and solve the problem that they were having. Then on Tuesday I have Italian class and it is great. We learned Italian hand signals which I will show you all later. Then I have my principles of marketing class were we took the brand Harley Davidson and talked about what their marketing techniques are and why they are so effective. Wednesdays I have archeology which is AMAZING. Our first day we did a short walking tour around are school and I found a place where you can over look all of Rome. From there you are able to see the whole in the pantheon and the coliseum it is gorgeous. Then I have my consulting class after I get done there I head back to my flat and do some home work then my roommates and I make dinner. Then we hang out and talk for a while and then go to our bed rooms and usually skype you guys. Thursdays I have Italian and marketing class so it’s the same kind of day as Tuesdays. Except after class is done we go home eat and start getting ready to go out because we don’t have classes Friday here.
First trip out of Rome
Hey guys so I’m in Chianti, Italy right now and it is so amazing and beautiful… nothing like Rome. MY roommate Signe and I are staying here in this cute house with her parents for the night and then we are going to go to Florence. So while I was in Chianti we went to their wine tasting festival that happens once a year for three days. I definitely found that I am a red wine person and I had a lot of fun pretending like I knew what I was talking about. Then we went out to dinner and had one of the best meals of my entire life. Belisimo. Then after dinner we went to the house we are staying at and went to bed. So I’m headed for Florence in the morning and ill tell you all about it tomorrow night. Love you all and miss you

FIRE FIRE FIRE

WOW busy busy busy
Sorry I have not been updating for a while but idk where to start I think ill start with the BIG event.
So today before we went out to this AMAZIN dinner we had to call 113 which is equivalent to 911 back at home. So my roommates and I were chillin in the kitchen and then all of a sudden the power went. (This is quiet normal here because you only have a certain amount of electricity that you can use here.) So my roommate Sarah yells “ya I feel so Italian” and we all laughed until my other roommate Jenny went over to our fuse box and saw fire coming out of one of the rooms. Yes fire, so we grab a blanket and put out the fire. So from this whole ordeal the advice I give is…. DO NOT BRING AN AMERICAN HAIR STRAIGHTENER HERE CAUSE IT WILL EXPLODE. Then you will have to call 113 and try to explain the problem and they might hang up on you like they did to us. Don’t worry every one I’m fine and so are all my rommies. Well its 1 am here so I will tell you more about everything later. LOVE

walkin

Hey guys so yesterday was so much fun my roomies and I went to Fontana de trevi I through a coin in to the Fontana and made a wish :) I felt like I was in the movie lol. Then we went to this amazing gelato place right down by the Fontana and OMG I think that the gelato gets better every time I eat it. I got melon and it was my far one of the most amazing tasting things. Then after we went to see the Spanish steps which was beautiful and is the pic. My roomies and i decided that there is no need for the stair master when you have the Spanish Steps above is me sanding on the steps looking out over the sea of people. The buildings behind me are dolce, diesel and all the other top fashion brand stores are. We went in and browsed but I just got depressed cause I can’t afford them. After we got done dreaming we decided to head back to our side of ROma. Once we got over here it was like night and day compared to over by the Fontana and here. Where we are is like the Romans roma because it’s not very touristy and the streets are not crazy packed... I think I like it more over here. After are bus ride we went over to the grocery store and picked up a few thing. Then headed back to the apartment. Later that night we went to out and I got to see the Colosseum at night and it is so beautiful. it’s exactly what you see in movies.Afterseeing that my roomie and I decided that we are going to one night go see the Fontana de trevi again and a bunch of other things at night because we were told how gorgeous they are at night. Well I have to get going ill post some more stuff soon love you

hey every one

So today was my first real day in ROMA. I love it here so far i just need to become fluent in italiano then it will be amazin... no more staring and smiling lookin like an idiot any time any one addresses me.

So today I went to Orientation today and got my student id card and my cell phone. I would give every one the number but its expensive here to talk to you on it, and that's why got gave us skype. Then after we got doe there we went over to the market which is amazing. When you walk around the corner its like the farmers market we have at home but with more things like super fresh veggies, bread, meat and fish. it was interesting tho i did not see any chicken. This food is amazin i got some tomatoes, eggs, olives, pasta and strawberries which taste great!!!!!! OH ya and i cant for get i got some wine and the funny part is that it comes in an old water bottle lol ( check out the pic). Let me just say its so weird that no one ever questioned us about how old we are and if we are "of age" to buy liquor. Then after we left the market Then as we walked home we stopped by this gelato place on my way home and OMG this stuff is amazin i can now die with a smile on my face... and those of you that say its like the ice cream we have back home you are far from wrong. Then after we got back I fell asleep. Not exactly sure what we are doin tonight but I think we might go to this restaurant that the school recommended. You are able to get salad, pasta, dessert and a glass of wine for like 10 euros so it sounds like a great deal. Well ill talk to everyone later and dont worry i will take more pictures.

lots of love brittany

Travel day

Hey
So I’m just chillin in the airport in mn waitin to leave for Detroit…. the start of my 20 hours of travel. This morning was interesting I had to sit on my suit case to get it shut and then I could not check in online. IN the end everything turned out ok.
I came to the conclusion as I was leaving that my dogs are smarter then I give them credit because they seemed to know that I was leaving (sad puppy faces). I’m def. going to miss them and of course all of you.
SUCKY
So I’m now in Detroit and everything was going smoothly I got a bite to eat and got to my gate… PERFECT. Then I got on the plane and a min. after we left the gate they told us they were having a small prob. with the AC. So we taxied back to the gate and sat there for an hour and a half (FYI not fun when its 95 degrees outside and we are sitting there like baked potatoes). Then they come on and told us that we are going to deboard ( all 280 people) and go to a different plane. So now I’m going to for sure miss my connecting flight to Rome, let’s just hope that they have lots of flights from Amsterdam to Rome. OH ya and I forgot to say that the school is supposed to pick us up from the airport and bring us to the school as long as we arrive before noon (there time). Lets pray this all comes together. On the plus side I got a really good salad with my 6$ voucher.
Bye guys hopefully next time I post anything ill be in Rome at my apartment LOVE
Sept 2
Hey
So the stupid plane in Detroit did screw everything up for me. I completely missed my flight to Rome and they booked me on another one but I don’t leave until 1:10 this time and I needed to be in Rome by 12:30 there time so I could get picked up by the school. Well, I guess all I can do know is hope that the school found out about my flight and they will still pick me up. Otherwise I have to take a taxi to where the school is. So fingers crossed everything will fix its self cause I’m tired and really not in the mood to for any more issues. Well, bye everyone hope this time my next post is from Rome and not an airport.
<3 Brittany
Arrived in Rome
So I arrived in rome 9 hours late so the school did not pick me up ( witch is ok its not there fault). So I take a taxi over to where the school is and my driver does not speak any english so its a struggle to let him know where im headed. We finally figure it out and he takes me to the place. Well when i get out he tells me the cost so i get out the cash and handed him the money in US currency. Well he does not like this or says its not enough idk. So finally i get someone from the school to come help me and they figured it out. so advise if you ever come to rome change your currency before you get there dont even bother with dollar its a hassle.

Oh well everything is fine now im at my apartment waiting for my roomates to arrive and talking to you. Oh ya and this apartment is amazing I love it....now all i need to do is learn italian and this could be a fun trip

Lots of love missing you all
